Inamorata

I remembered your fragility
responding to an unkind word,
a thoughtless moment.
When last my fingers,
gripped hard to your flesh,
squeezed until my tremors burst,
the rising body under me soared
and moaned explosions.
After-breath and palpitations,
you against me
wet, soft, whimpering,
as my hand swam
in little pools
along your downed back.
Then a many-ended warp unraveled,
built with patience,
your unprotected self,
delicate as your pale nakedness.
